![]() Game 1 he dazes both halves of my Chatter, and looks very in control of the game with YP/TNN et al but I've got 4 creatures and a cradle and use 2 cradles to GSZ up a hoof for the win. Game 3 he's got a slow start with Thalia 1/2 and I've got a 6/6 Squirrel Mob that ends up going the distance. ![]() Game 2 D&T does its thing and I get Wastelanded / Revokered out of the game Game 1 he gets a boardstate of Revoker, Prelate on 2, THC, Flickerwisp, Mom, and some other stuff, but a timely Natural Order -> Hoof lets me swing for 30 with my untapped creatures. He casts some KotR and other stuff and I draw terribly, dying with 3 Natural Orders in hand. I whiff on therapy, but feel compelled to sac DRS to FB therapy and snipe the 2 Confidants in his hand. Game 3 I mull to 6 and we both cast t1 DRS. He Thoughtseizes my DRS, then decays/pfires my tokens and I don't draw another land so I'm stuck on one mana all game. hands) but it's a decent one with chatter forest cradle and I think DRS. Game 2 I mull to 4 (drew the Phyrexian Tower as sole land in 3 prev. Game 1 I draw a bunch of cards off a t2 library and easily win with Hermit -> Cradle -> Order -> Hoof. I swing with Hermit and Leo, he brainstorms for a token to chump and then dies the next turn. He ponders to find an EE and draws it next turn to kill my squirrels, but he's at 3 with 1 card in hand facing Hermit + Leo + DRS. A YP and Clique join his party, and he Snap/Therapy rids me of 2 GSZs but I rip a 3rd off the top, grab a Hermit and start beating down. He casts a Strix the next turn reluctantly, and indicates his hand is basically all cantrips. Game 3 I GSZ for a DRS on t2 and hardcast the Leovold on t3. Game 2 he Therapys away 2 DRS, bolts the 3rd I had played, and I draw a lot of lands before dying Game 1 he brainstorm locks himself 3 times and my Chatter of the Squirrels go the distance If you're interested in reading about 4 rounds of squirrels, below are my notes for the night: 4 Therapy / 3 Thoughtseize seems good enough. I didn't play vs any combo so have no idea if my combo-centric sideboard is any good. Quote of the night was "I'm losing to Leovold but dying to squirrels". Leovold is another amazing card in the vein of Cradle/Order that lets mediocre strategies hang with the tier decks. Wrangler might deserve a 1-of GSZ target slot. ] and ] and the other squirrel makers like ] are unplayable in my opinion. Squirrel Mob is one of the worst cards in the deck (why doesn't it have trample?) but cannot be cut for flavor reasons unfortunately. A forest should be cut for a swamp as I was often cut off of black. The Pendlehaven was just a test, but it should definitely be a 4th cradle. Cavern always names elf to set up a hardcast. Trimming the slower cards for Vet Explorers really helped speed things up, and Phyrexian Tower is also great at turning a Chatter token into a Hermit.Īs is tradition, Deranged Hermit is a disgusting card and with Cradle the echo is no problem. Original iterations of the deck played 4-ofs of ], ] (the Japanese card shown), ], ] and ] but the deck was just agonizingly slow. Case in point, the power of Gaea's Cradle and Natural Order propelling Squirrel Tribal to 3-1 at weekly legacy. Legacy is a great format because the powerful cards turn bad decks into passable ones.
